2025 In Review

A well-lived life is an examined life. And before we look forward, we pause—intentionally—to look back.

2025 was a year we are deeply proud of. Proud of the work we made, yes—but even more proud of how we made it. Proud of the people who showed up every day, worked together, supported one another, and chose care before outcome. This year reminded us that what truly matters is community and how we treat each other—and that this always comes before the finished object. Always. In a world that has felt increasingly loud, fractured, and aggressive, we made a conscious decision about how epiphany would exist within it. Our studio, our work, and our voice would be grounded in joy, generosity, and welcome. No matter what you look like or who you love, you are welcome here – what we do not make space for is anger, derision, rudeness, or aggression. There is already enough of that elsewhere.

January

We celebrate our holidays in January, and this year the team did something unforgettable—we went to iFLY and floated like skydivers. Nothing bonds a group quite like shared laughter and a good adrenaline rush.

January also marked the launch of our 2025 Heart of the Year, Blue Ice – full of sparkly dichroic glass and our favorite aqua blue. A fresh start, in every sense.

February

The cats continued living their very best lives. We work so they don’t have to.

We also created a number of custom awards this month, elevating corporate events and celebrations with work that is thoughtful, unique, and made by hand. We are always honored when organizations trust us to mark their milestones in glass.

March

We had the joy of hosting a class of students from Southfield for their first-ever glassmaking experience. From students to seniors, specialty groups of all kinds come through our studio—and without fail, people are amazed by the material, the heat, and the magic of watching glass take shape.

April

Glass comes from the Earth, and in her honor we spend Earth Day outside together—cleaning, pruning, and caring for the space around our studio. A little love goes a long way.

April also brought something lighthearted and fun: we launched a small line of glass-themed merch featuring some of the sayings we use daily in the glass shop. Practical, playful, and very us. Check them out here.

May

We traveled a lot this year—from coast to coast—sharing glass with new audiences and reconnecting with longtime supporters. Travel reminds us how far handmade work can reach.

May also marked our final hands-on workshop of the spring season: the Memorial Ash Workshop. This deeply meaningful experience—offered only twice a year—continues to be one of the most powerful ways we connect art, memory, and love.

June

We welcomed Erin Mayberry to the team, whose joyful energy and warm presence quickly became part of the studio fabric.

We were also honored to attend the WBENC Conference in New Orleans, a gathering rooted in inclusivity and opportunity—values that align deeply with our own. We were saddened by the passing of Pamela Prince-Eason shortly after the conference, and we hold deep gratitude for her legacy and leadership.

July

Summer is quieter in the studio, giving the team space to travel, rest, and refill creative wells. And travel they did.

August

Our Garden Art was featured on the news as a creative way to bring lasting color to gardens when blooms fade. Seeing our work celebrated as joyful, functional beauty felt especially meaningful.

August also brought an exciting delivery of glass color from Oceanside—arriving just in time for our busy fall pumpkin season.

September

As the weather cooled, our hands-on glassmaking workshops returned. We also welcomed Jennifer Larson to the team to support customer service and fulfillment—an invaluable role during our busiest months. And we launched our very popular Tricky Treat Pumpkin, our 2025 Pumpkin of the Year.

October

October was packed with movement—trade shows, interviews, memorial art conversations, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our Goldilocks Pumpkin honored survivors and thrivers, while the studio stayed playful with a little Halloween mischief along the way.

November

We were so thrilled by the Wicked movie we created a limited series of Wicked Pumpkins in colors based on the movie. We were very excited to learn the very special color we use to make our Abundant Turkey was being made again, after being out of production since 2020!

Color is joy. Color is our JAM. Nearly all of our raw color materials come from Europe, and between tariffs, supply uncertainty, and a volatile global landscape, working with color required patience, ingenuity, and commitment. We did it anyway—because we love it.

November also brought the unforgettable experience of walking in the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Pure fun.

December

December was craaaaaaaazy busy for us. Between special projects, helping to raise money for workforce development, our holiday show, releasing our 2025 Ornament of the Year Silver Bell, and serving our online customers we were in deep this year and we loved every minute of it!

Custom pieces for a special gift

This year, something remarkable happened online. Again and again, hundreds of times a day, we saw the same word appear in comments: beautiful. People found the work beautiful. The process beautiful. The finished pieces beautiful. That steady chorus of appreciation is what led us, in December, to begin our series The Daily Beautiful – check them out on our social media FB and IG. Small moments of beauty, shared intentionally, as a counterweight to everything that pulls us away from what is good.

Glass is hard. Really hard. Watching it be made—or making it yourself—reveals just how demanding this work is, physically and mentally. We do it because we love it with our whole hearts. If we didn’t, we simply wouldn’t do it at all. And that love—combined with decades of experience, deep focus, and respect for the material—is what gives each piece its life.

Glass, when it survives, lasts forever. These objects will outlive us. They will outlive this moment, this year, and this season of uncertainty. They can be handed down, carried forward, and held as stories. In a world that increasingly values the disposable and the digital, the mark of the hand—the imprint of the maker—has never mattered more.

This reflection is our way of closing the door on 2025 with gratitude and joy. We made beautiful things together. We welcomed many people in. We learned. We stretched. We cared. This year is complete.
