turchina filigrana

‘turchina filigrana’ / April Wagner / Summer 2012

The clients for this project were challenged for over 15 years to find the right piece of artwork for this space. They lived in this significant historical home and could never find a work of art to hang over the fireplace because of the 6″ slope from the bottom of the mantel to the top, so they left it blank. After seeing April’s work, they realized they could custom commission her to create an artwork that wouldn’t look like it was hanging at an angle on the wall. This was more challenging then one might initially suppose, but April figured it out. Wanting to compliment the strong rich architectural lines in the room, April created a round piece comprised of glass ribbons used like filigree. Giving the room just enough of a contemporary feel to set it off, but not to be too overpowering to the eye.

This piece measures 52″ x 52″ x 10″
