The Flint Institute of Music looked for the right arts to commission to create the entryway sculpture for a long time. When they found April it was instantly a good fit. April created a whimsical piece that filled the space with live. Full of color and vitality, she captured the essence of the garden, a combination of Dr Suess meets ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ that would appeal to the students of all ages that visit the Music Ins. daily. Wanting to be playful but not contrived April added the mirrored base to add another dimension to the piece. whether walking up the stairs or going around on the handicap ramp, everyone is equally engaged by the art.
