untitled (S3Delta) / April Wagner / July 2004
April was commissioned to create a site-specific commission for the world headquarters of Strategic Staffing Solutions, Detroit, MI.
This sculpture was commissioned in January 2004 to celebrate the grand opening the of the Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3) new corporate headquarters in Detroit, MI. Unveiled at an invitation only open house, the sculpture and artists were recognized with praise and honor by S3 president Cindy Pasky.
The sculpture was designed specifically to be hung on the wall of the executive wing of the S3 offices in the historic Penobscot Building in downtown Detroit. The sculpture was created to specifically honor S3’s coming of age. The emerald green color of the sculpture is the S3 company color. The shapes of the glass pieces are loosely formed “S” and “3” shapes.
Inspiration for the sculpture came from the S3 business operating structure, which is based on a reverse pyramid, placing the company’s clients and it’s consultants first. A technology based staffing firm, the premise of “3” is prevalent throughout the company’s ideology. April feels it is imperative that commissioned corporate sculptures embody the outstanding and intrinsic qualities which define the environment a sculpture is made to exist within. April interpreted the salient qualities of S3 to be a strongly corporate goal-based environment. The sculpture is meant to bridge the gap between corporate mind set, and artistic interpretation.
The sculpture measures 6’l x 8″d x 6’h.
