Tomorrow, join DIA Director Graham W. J. Beal in a discussion about how museums from around the world loan some of their most precious works. He will discuss how the DIA’s “Melancholy Woman” by Picasso, which recently returned to the museum and is now on view in “Five Spanish Masterpieces,” and other acclaimed masterpieces, including Caravaggio’s “Martha and Mary Magdalene” and Fuseli’s “The Nightmare,” would rarely be on view in Detroit if the museum granted all of its loan requests that come in from around the globe.
