in honor of michigan glass month 2005, epiphany studios open their doors to the public, friday, april 15 from 2-9 pm, and saturday, april 16 from 12-6 pm, with live glass-blowing from leading american artist david bennett. live demonstrations will be performed by bennett, and his assistant bob park, at 5:30 pm on April 15 and 2 pm on April 16. they will demonstrate the process of melding glass into metal while he creates distinct segments of the limbs that will later be assembled to create the sculpture of a dancer in motion. bennett, a former lawyer, specializes in reticulated glassñthe process of blowing glass into metal. his sculptures have evolved from oversized horse heads to horses in motion to human form sculptures. the artist has exhibited at SOFA, chicago; habatat gallery invitational, royal oak, mi.; and rachael collection in colorado. bennett has studied at the pilchuck school of glass, as well as having served as the institutionÃs president for a brief period of time.John Miller concentrates his work in several diverse areas and focuses on larger than life glass creations like jumbo martini and wine glasses, with some holding as much as five gallons of liquid. He has been exhibited in galleries nationally as well as at the SOFA exhibition in Chicago.
